Hope you are feeling better Smurf

Lovely story from Alnorthumbria Equine Vets! This is Smurf, who has had surgery to remove his right eye. He sustained an injury to the eye a few months ago, and this trauma caused the lens to luxate into the front of the eye. This is known as anterior lens luxation and is very rare in horses. Initially his condition was successfully managed medically, however in time the displaced lens began to stick to the front of the eye causing painful degenerative ulceration, with no hope of resolution. The eye was removed under standing sedation, and Smurf, who has been a star patient, is doing very well after the operation.
