Marie Rippingale REVN and Head Equine Nurse at Scarsdale Vets, has now passed her RCVS Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Dip AVN) qualification. This is a distinct post-qualification award made by the RCVS achieved within a higher educational framework provided by the Diploma of Higher Education Clinical Veterinary Nursing (Dip HE CVN) in conjunction with the attainment of an additional module, the Integrative Project. Marie attained her Dip HE CVN with distinction in June 2012. To achieve the Dip AVN Marie wrote a 5,000 word literature review on the risk factors and preventative measures for thrombophlebitis in the horse. Marie also had to complete a 30 minute viva voice examination on her chosen topic in December 2012. Marie passed her Dip AVN with distinction and is now one of only three veterinary nurses ever to have achieved the Dip AVN in the equine context!
